Being rich, without consideration of other obligations, whether legal or moral, allows one to buy a right of residence in many countries. Today, more and more countries have developed the possibility of acquiring nationality based on the investment capacity of those who apply for it. Experts in this business have even compiled a list of the 15 best countries in the world to obtain dual citizenship. Saint Kitts and Nevis, Dominica, but also Turkey are among the countries that are very open to these wealthy investors. However, the sale of these nationalities for money or future investments is beginning to raise ethical questions. It is in this context that Russian citizens, despite being under international sanctions, were able to acquire European nationality in exchange for money. All of these "golden passports" practices were recently condemned by the European Union's justice. The judgments handed down on this matter have all stressed that European citizenship is not for sale. It is in this new context that countries like Ireland and Portugal have stopped offering these "golden visas". But other countries continue to offer residents permits in exchange for cash, such as Greece and the United States : 800,000 euros and 5 million dollars respectively. Finally, Malta remains, for the time being, one of the most welcoming countries for these wealthy foreigners. That said, other countries around the world are ready to take over this lucrative business.
